Hardware Engineer, Power Estimation

Job Description

In this role you will be developing the power estimation tools and flows of NVIDIAs Tegra chips and platforms, from architectural level models to gate level simulations. As a developer of these tools you will be responsible for creating the technology that shapes and validates the roadmap and the accompanying investment of hundreds of millions of dollars of R&D. As a member of the Power Estimation Team, you will collaborate closely with Architects, Software Engineers, ASIC Design Engineers, and System Engineers to model the power consumption of our chips and platforms.

- Shape the definition and execute on the development of the tools and flows that estimate power.
- Work within a small team of engineers to provide tools and participate broadly across the entire organization working with team members on their needs of the power estimation flows and tools.
- Respond rapidly to the needs of your customers, the other engineering teams within Tegra, to provide them with the estimation capabilities and customizations that they require to ensure our products are the best in the market.

Desired Candidate Profile

Education: (UG - Any Graduate) AND (PG - M.Sc - Computers, Electronics) AND ( Doctorate - Doctorate Not Required)
- MS in EE/CS/ECS or related technical field or equivalent.
- 3 years or more of C/C++/Java development experience; Perl and Python experience helpful. GUI design experiences a plus.
- Experience with power management fundamentals of clock gating, dynamic frequency and voltage scaling, power sequencing, and power measurement.
- Experience with modern power estimation tools such as PT-PX a plus.
- Experience and familiarity with systems software, operating systems, as well as intuition for user level application interactions.
- Experience working with actual hardware and lab equipment.
- Ability to distill questions about complex and concurrent systems into simple testable statements.

DESIRED:
- ARM or other microprocessor experience.
- Video and/or 3D experience.
- Experience with chip backbone and interconnect architectures, buses, I/O hubs, I/O systems, storage, networking, media processing, etc.
